This section is dedicated to free events organized by the teacher for all students to meet, connect, and get to know one another beyond the regular coursework.
Don’t fret—there’s no homework involved!
The aim of this teatime activity is to allow everyone to share their musical taste and bring along some songs that mean something to them. As long as the text is in English you can contribute to the event by bringing any kind of music that inspires you - from Metal to Reggae, from Electronic to Rap, and whatever else you may think of!
You will be required to present one song at a time, and depending on the number of participants you will get a certain timing for your presentation during the event.
Remember, all kinds of music are welcome and should therefore be respecte: there's no accounting for taste.
Music is what helps each and everyone of us in taking difficult steps in life, cherishing a moment and this is the right place where you can share the reasons why you listen to the music you love.
Here we practice listening and translating on more relaxed terms than the way we approach them at the Conversation Gym:
☕ all activities take place in the main session — there’s no work in Breakout Rooms;
☕ the meeting is twice as short as a regular course session (only one hour)
☕ there’s no in-depth analysis of grammar topics — it’s all about keeping things light and stress-free.

❓ WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES CAN YOU EXPECT?
The backbone of the activity will be presenting a song you like by:
1) explaining what the song is about
2) saying what part of it you like most and why: the melody, the lirycs, the pitch of an instrument or all these elements together.
3) reporting a piece of the text which you find a bit more challenging for yourself or for any person listening to the song
4) making us listen to the part of the song you like the most.
At the end of the meeting we will take votes to elect the songs presented to:
the best sound / melody of the meeting
the most appreciated lyrics of the meeting
the easiest on the ears
the catchiest tune
❓ WHEN DO THESE EVENTS HAPPEN?
Since the teacher is usually busy during the week, events take place on Saturdays or Sundays at 4pm.
Because weekends are also for relaxing, these events run for six consecutive weeks, followed by a break of roughly the same length.
